Introduction
I started my journey as a web developer around 2023–2024.
Like most beginners, I didn’t have a big portfolio, strong connections, or clarity on pricing. I just had one thing — the willingness to start.
My first client came from college. It was a simple website for his father’s business, and I charged ₹2,000 for it.
Today, I charge ₹25,000–₹30,000 for Indian clients and €500–€1000 for international projects.
So what changed?
It Wasn’t Just Skill
Most people think higher pricing comes from better technical skills.
That’s only partly true.
Yes, I improved as a developer — but the real shift came from understanding things beyond code.
The Value of Connections
Your first opportunities rarely come from strangers.
They come from:
- people who know you
- people who trust you
- people who’ve seen your work
That first ₹2,000 project wasn’t small — it was the start of everything.
It taught me that:
relationships create opportunities.
Understanding Trust
Clients don’t just pay for a website.
They pay for:
- reliability
- clarity
- communication
When a client trusts you, pricing becomes a secondary conversation.
Building trust means:
- delivering what you promise
- being transparent
- staying consistent
Support Is Everything
One of the biggest lessons I learned:
Good support > perfect design
Clients remember:
- how fast you respond
- how you solve problems
- how you handle issues after delivery
If your support is strong, clients:
- come back
- refer you
- trust you with bigger work
Pricing Changed Because I Changed
I didn’t just increase my prices randomly.
- I became more confident
- I communicated better
- I understood client needs
- I delivered more value
That’s what allowed me to move from ₹2,000 to €1000 projects.
Managing Work and Freelancing
Today, I work as a General Manager in Goa/Leh while also freelancing for Indian and international clients.
This balance taught me:
- discipline
- time management
- responsibility
And most importantly:
growth doesn’t always come from one path.
What I Learned
Looking back, a few things stand out:
- Start small, but start
- Don’t underestimate early work
- Focus on relationships
- Build trust consistently
- Support your clients — it pays back
Final Thoughts
Growth in freelancing is not just about learning tools or coding better.
It’s about:
- how you work with people
- how you show up
- how you deliver value
Because in the end, people don’t just hire skills —
they hire someone they can trust.
